The Arizona Water Protection Fund (AWPF) Commission will be initiating its FY 2009 grant cycle on March 10, 2008 The Commission provides funding for projects that directly maintain, enhance and restore river and riparian resources; implement innovative river and riparian research; and implement water conservation measures or programs outside of the 5 Active Management Areas. The Commission anticipates that approximately $4 million will be available for grant awards. The Commission will be accepting applications under all funding categories (capital, research and water conservation). The FY 2009 Grant Application Manual will be available at all grant application workshops, or can be downloaded from the AWPF web site at: here. beginning March 10, 2008. To have a copy mailed to you, please contact Michelle Moreno at (602) 771-8528. Grant Application workshops will be held in Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff, Show Low, Sierra Vista, Yuma, Prescott and Safford (see attached schedule). Please RSVP to rjheld@azwater.gov to indicate which workshop you would like to attend. Workshops will be canceled if at least 5 people have not confirmed their attendance within 2 business days prior to the scheduled workshop date. In the event a workshop is canceled, notices will be sent via e-mail to those who have registered. Pre-application consultations may be scheduled with AWPF staff from March 10 - June 6, 2008. Grant applications will be due no later than June 11, 2008 by 3:00 p.m. The Commission will make grant award selections on October 20, 2008.

Call for applications announced for the 2008 Science To Achieve Results (STAR) Research Grants EPA Grants in the categories of: 1) Enhancing Ecosystem Services from Agricultural Lands- CLOSED; 2) Developing Tools for Quantification and Decision Support - CLOSED; 3) Consequences of Global Change for Water Quality - CLOSED ; 4) Water Infrastructure Systems for Water Quality and Drinking Water (Opens November 2008).
